Frankston Regional Arts Trail
2025

Our proposal, Park to Beach, reimagines the 7.4 km stretch from McClelland Sculpture Park to Frankston Beach as more than a path—it's a vibrant, unfolding journey. This corridor weaves through train lines, roads, and shifting landscapes, transformed into a continuous experience of discovery through moments of rest, colour, and visual delight.
We propose a series of sculptural pavilions at three key "hinge points" along the route. These small but striking structures offer pause and perspective, turning the journey into an experience—one that’s both playful and thoughtful. They’re part of a cohesive design language that brings rhythm and identity to the entire path.
Complementing these pavilions are five wayfinding moments—bold, painted ground shapes that guide visitors between stops. These colourful ground elements, along with the pavilions, take their hues from the unforgettable sunsets over Frankston Beach: soft pink skies, calm blue waters, and golden light filtering through. The result is a path that can be seen from a distance and felt deeply up close.
