Zilka Studio was the project architect and collaborating architect with AllZone Architects who were comissioned for the prestigious MPavilion 2022. The pavilion functions as a meeting point and performance space that supports the largeand varied programming activities of the MPavilion. Designed to celebrate being outdoors, the key design feature is the canopy which comprises of three fabric layers. The outermost layer is built from fishing net that was manufactured in Thailand, the middle layer is crafted from a cutting-edge STFE tensile membrane that provides the water protection for the space under and the third layer is the ceiling waffle construction that slightly moves in the wind. An additional kiosk that is an elliptical form was also designed and built to provide storage and catering facilities to the large public program. This pavilion was then relocated to RMIT Brunswick campus in 2023, where it now sits and is used for teaching and learning activities.
